Blues Fest 2010

Didn't go to the big concert here in Coral Bay, but some friends talked us into going to the Beach Bar in Cruz Bay on Sunday for the final "send off" All the bands play at the bar for free. It was just great. Here is a pic of me with Billy Gibson, one of the greatest harmonica players - my opinion- in the world, right from Mississippi. Some friends know him and saved me a seat next to him. she has done some paintings of him and Mitch Woods when they were here. Look her up on the net - lasst name Greathouse. She does wonderful work.
No problem. We will have the scotch in hand.
Our neighbors, Stluka's, left island before they finished the house completely, so they hired Bob to oversee the final stages. Bob hired me and there we are, staining railings and picking up workers and waiting for plumbers, etc, then lunch, then school, then dinner, the BED.

It's Almost Time

Hi,
Betsy, sounds like she is on her way, but actually she will arrive in Jax a week from tomorrow evening (tuesday) at 10:30 p.m.
Betsy, Rick said to bring some single malt scotch. I can't think of anything we need from Ohio, but tell Kathy to bring her Pandora bracelet. I want to see it.
Rick and Ryan went to the NCAA basketball games on Friday and Sunday that were in Jax. The rest of the weekend they worked on replacing fencing in the backyard. It is over 20 years old and falling down.
I've had a bad cold, it left me useless. I was tired and slept a lot and had no energy to do anything. I think I'm on the mend now.
Today I'm driving a dentist friend of ours to the ortho dr. He broke his foot in January and hasn't be able to drive so I'm helping out there. Rick is going to his office on Thursday afternoons to keep it going. It looks like he will retire and sell the practice, but you want it to be viable when it sells. He has some other issues as well.
Ryan's 30 year old birthday party was on Saturday. Ashley and Kyla came. I don't think Ryan cared if he had a party or not, but Kyla enjoyed blowing out the candles and singing. We had to pretend it was a surprise too when he walked into the kitchen.
I'm still trying to get the yard cleaned up and the house in order. We had such a long, cold winter that a lot of stuff died off. I don't really like yard work anyway.
Ryan lost his job at Outback in Georgia. He was there for 6 months and would like to stay in the area, so he is at Dover Bluff looking for something off the island, maybe in Brunswick. He's been working around here and at the office to clean up the decking and parking lot. He did some painting in Dover Bluff too. I haven't seen it yet.
It's supposed to go into the 70s this week, no more freezing weather, they said we can plant the annuals now and cut the lawn. Lots of the lawns are brown, ours doesn't look too bad.
Rick talked to his brother in MI on Saturday and it was snowing!
Take care, love,
Marilynn

Trip South

Bets, you say you're getting ready to head out, when are you to arrive in Jax? We will not arrive until Friday pm and will plan on leaving probably Tues, not sure yet.

"Soon come"

Hi you guys,
Well, we are getting ready to depart. Looking forward to being off island for a little while and yukking it up with all of you. I know we'll have a great time.
It's Blues Fest this past week. The big concert was here in Coral Bay last night- we did not partake. We are going downtown to Cruz Bay this aft, meeting some friends at the Beach Bar where a lot of the Blues players will again do their thing as a send off. Anybody want us to bring anything from here?
Herb and Kathy,
Have a safe trip. Be careful in those mountains. Love the "rolling" tweets on the side of the post page.
luv,
b & b

March 10th (I think)

Well, it's been a while since I've written. Woke up to pee at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep so I finally got up about 5:30. Checked my email and will need to get dressed shortly to go to cardiac rehab - I don't like going but it's the only exercise I get.

Kathy is getting anxious to come the first of the month, I'm not looking forward to the drive, but we'll survive, looking forward to seeing you all. I'm serving on 3 boards now and two of the three organizations are requiring a lot more of my time than just monthly board meetings, it's getting more like a "job" and I don't like having a "job".

Real Estate business is picking up, Thank God and as a result, there's more to do and more paperwork to shuffle in hopes that will equate to commission checks in 30 days or so.

Anyway, I need to get dressed and get to rehab by 7am, so I better get out of here, will try to write again soon, (Kathy is starting to walk to work again, but her legs hurt so she's driving today!)

March News

Hello,
This is a picture taken at Rick's 63rd birthday party on Sunday. His two brothers, Bob and Mike came up from Palm Coast (Mike is visiting from Michigan) and Ashley, Darin and Kyla came. Ryan was here too, so we had a pretty nice day. The weather was beautiful, cool, but clear. Rick cooked steaks on the grill and I made green beans, potatoes, mushrooms and strawberry shortcake for desert. The strawberries are in season right now and they were great. Kyla was in charge of the whipped cream on everyone's shortcake. Again, Rick didn't get his car lift for the new garage. Too bad.
I was at Kyla's school today listening to the 1st graders read, then met Rick for lunch and went to get my oil changed in the Mini. It will be 8 years old next month and is in great shape.
We spent last weekend in Dover. We cleaned the decking and Ryan will stain it tomorrow. Today it rained here and there. We got a burn permit and burned a lot of yard trash that has been piling up for a year. Then we worked with the club members on Saturday. Rick bagged oysters for develop a reef and I raked the park with about 8 other ladies. We were supposed to have a wild game dinner Saturday night, but it got cancelled. They will do it in a month of so.
Rick and Ryan are going quail hunting this Saturday and Sunday. They always go twice a year to a club, good food, shooting and quail to bring home.
That last picture on the blog is beautiful, but I'm glad I don 't live in snow country. We have had an unusually cold winter and a long one too. It is going down into the 30s the next 3 nights although it is 66 right now. So much for global warming.
I'm getting excited, 4 weeks from today Betsy and Bob will be here and then Bert and Kathy will follow. :)
Did you guys watch the Olympic hockey games, I think we caught most of them. Too bad for the U.S. but we gave it a good shot, OT and all.
Take care, love, Marilynn
